Mission statement

A people with willing hearts ready to serve WHOSOEVER.

Vision

To reach the unreachable,  to teach the unteachable,  to share the love of God and to serve the Community.

 Pastors Billy & Clara McClay

William (Billy) McClay and his wife Clara have been walking with Jesus for over thirty years.  With willing hearts and open arms, they have pastored Glenvarna Christian Centre from its foundation.

Billy and Clara also minister both nationally and internationally & have established relationships with other Church leaders who have grown to love and respect their servant hearts, wisdom and ability to move in the power of the Holy Spirit.

  • We believe in one God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Creator of all things.

  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, crucified, died, was buried, resurrected, ascended into Heaven and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father and is "true God and true man".

  • We believe the bible to be the inspired word of God and final authority for all Christian faith and life.

  • We believe in personal salvation through the shed blood of Jesus Christ and that only those who receive Jesus Christ by faith are born of the Holy Spirit and become children of God.

  • We believe in divine healing through faith in the name of Jesus Christ and that healing is included in our redemption.

  • We believe in water baptism, in baptism in the Holy Spirit as distinct from new birth, in speaking with tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance (Acts 2:4), in the gifts of the Spirit and the evidence of the fruit of the Spirit. We believe that all these are available to believers.

  • We are a Holy Spirit filled Church.

Glenvarna Christian Centre has, for almost three decades, provided a wide range of social, youth and pastoral services to the communities of the Greater Newtownabbey Area.

Glenvarna Christian Centre Beginning as a house fellowship in 1976, we moved to the old Orange Hall in Carnmoney in 1978 and, after ten years, moved to our current site at 34A Ballynure Road in Newtownabbey.   People from all communities have always come together to share and to care.

GCC's ethos has always been to support and assist WHOSOEVER, in whatever way possible.

Youth organisations were set up to facilitate the needs of the youth who attend the Centre.

· Supergang: (5-11 year olds)

· Challengers: (11- early 20’s)

· Joshua Group: (Sunday School)

· The Thingy Group: (11+ / teens)

By 2005 it became clear that the facilities at Glenvarna Christian Centre were now insufficient to meet the needs of the local community.  A new vision was birthed to build a large, multi-functional facility on the four and a half acre Ballynure Road site - the 'Open Arms Centre'.

Building commenced on the Open Arms Centre - arms open

to all - regardless of religion, age, background, culture etc.
